Process Blog 010

So this is the last post! I don't know if I am going to write posts in my next quarter or not since the only one Dr. Fox is leaving. He was the only one requires us to write these blog posts for the last 2 quarters.  I usually don't like writing, but doing these process blog, I wanted to write more. I felt it helped in clearing my ideas and my process.

The week started on Monday. Some of my classmates formed a small group for project critiques. I joined that group to get more feedbacks about my project/process. I showed them my process and they did ask me a couple of questions. They didn't have comments or feedbacks for my project as they thought I am ahead in my process. I don't know if that's true or not!

On Tuesday, I went to the career fair and I am so glad that I did, although it was so crowded and many students were there. In the career fair, they were not hiring right away. They were just telling the students to apply online. So my experience, I was in line for 40 minutes to meet the IBM recruiter. So the first question he asked me was "Do you have a portfolio? What do you have in it?" I told him I have projects and their process. I started explaining my process and the process of this class. He was interested in the process and he gave me advice that I have heard before. "Can I see your process in your portfolio as many students focus on the look of the final product and not the process. When we hire we look over the process and if the student knows the process of a design or not." then he gave me his card and told me to apply and send him an email. So my conclusion in this experience was my professor has been saying that the process is important and I do follow his advice, but when I heard it from a recruiter I was like "wow, thank you thank you Tyler!". This is why we are creating an annotated portfolio. I am so glad I am doing this for a class. I do have my process for my other projects, but it took a lot of time to complete it since it's not due and I have to do it by myself.

On Wednesday,  the IMD481 class, we had to present for 1 min our projects then vote. MY project was one of the 8 projects who won the voting. After the voting, we were talking with each other about the project/ team. The system was messed up. No one knew what was happening. I started seeing everyone stressing out and forming groups. I didn't know what was the point of voting or even what was the point of having a whole class to create a proposal that we will not even present. I saw some student being left out because of the language barrier and some don't have a group for some other reasons. I was so overwhelmed and stressed as I have to choose between two groups and I didn't know what to do. I end up in with a group I haven't worked with. Everyone was just thinking about themselves and trying ta have the best team. I really don't care about this. I wish I could create my individual project. I don't want to deal with team problems and be a leader or give any instructions. I just don't want to have any drama in my next two-quarters. This quarter was the best. I didn't have to deal with groups and I did my work on time with no problems. I do work better individually!

So after that stressful class, I met my professor. I wanted his advice about my storyboards and I showed him what I have. He suggested thinking about the 360 environment in my storyboards. I found this helpful as I thought of creating a storyboard and place them in 360. He was just trying to help me, but I was spaced out and lost at that time. My progress went down for this project after team formation. I am not excited anymore about this.

One thing to mention is  I am almost done with my annotated portfolio. This weekend I will try to finish my storyboards and review my portfolio.

And before saying goodbye, I am really grateful I had Dr. Tyler fox as my professor for three quarters. I learned a lot from him  and he was the only professor I talk to in my college experience in USA ( I wish you all the best in your career Tyler!)

Goodbye!!
